BRF, one of the largest food companies in the world based in Itajaí (SC), will donate 18.5 tons of food to seven hospitals located in the cities of Itajaí, Camboriú and Balneário Camboriú to help fight the Coronavirus. Starting this week, the products began to be delivered to the Hospitals Marieta Konder Bornhausen, Unimed Litoral, Ruth Cardoso, Pequeno Anjo, Santa Luiza, Cirúrgico Camboriú and Hospital do Coração and will be used by institutions in the preparation of meals for patients and medical teams.

The action is part of the BRL 50 million announced by BRF earlier this month in donations in food, medical supplies and support for research and social development funds, to contribute to efforts to combat the effects of the pandemic. The initiative will include hospitals, social assistance organizations and health professionals in the states and municipalities in which the company operates.

In all, for hospitals alone, including field hospitals, donations should favor more than 15,000 people/day, through about 2.5 million meals over the next three months. As a global company, the Company will extend this initiative to countries where it has production units such as Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.
