The company donated 3 tons of food to combat the effects of Coronavirus
This week, Jataí (GO) received donations from BRF, one of the largest food companies in the world, to assist in efforts to combat the Coronavirus. The company allocated 3 tons of protein to two institutions: the Hospital das Clínicas Dr. Serafim de Carvalho, contributing to the preparation of meals to provide patients and employees, and the Department of Social Development and Citizenship of Jataí, helping to compose the basic food parcels that the municipality is delivering to unemployed families in the city.
The BRF initiative at first includes about 60 hospitals in 50 cities in nine states. The hospital materials will be allocated, as a priority, to health institutions in the states and municipalities where BRF has production units, distribution centers, and corporate offices.
The action is part of the BRL 50 million announced by BRF in donations in food, medical supplies and support for research and social development funds, to contribute to efforts to combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The initiative will include hospitals, Santa Casa hospitals, social assistance organizations and health professionals in the states and municipalities in which the company operates. In hospital institutions alone, donations should favor more than 15,000 people/day, through about 2.5 million meals over the next three months. As a global company, the Company will extend this initiative to countries where it has production units such as Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.
Additionally, during this period of uncertainty, BRF undertakes to maintain all jobs in April and May, performing only normal movements in the regular course of its operations. It is worth noting that BRF is hiring more than 2,000 people, among its own employees and third parties, to maintain production and supply and replace employees considered in the risk group who were preventively instructed to stay at home.
In order to bring support and convenience to employees who continue to work in the field, factories, distribution centers, streets and customers, from this week on, BRF will also provide a weekly credit in BRF products or food vouchers, providing and facilitating access to food for these professionals and their families.
