BRF ANNOUNCES NEW R$ 50 MILLION DONATION PLAN IN THE FIGHT AGAINST COVID-19

In 2021, the Company maintains the commitment announced in April of last year, with donations of food, equipment and hospital supplies as well as support for research and social funds to help contain the worsening of the pandemic.

BRF, one of the largest food companies in the world, announces the donation of over R $ 50 million to help fight the Covid-19 pandemic. The initiative contemplates actions in 15 Brazilian states and in countries where BRF has production units, distribution centers and corporate offices. Our goal is to continue efforts to contain the spread of the Coronavirus, contribute to serving the population during the emergency phase and act to combat the effects of the pandemic.

Food will be delivered to hospitals, social organizations and initiatives to support vulnerable populations. Hospital supplies and medical equipment, such as ventilators, oxygen plants and ICU beds, will be sent to municipal, state and health departments. It is also forecasted to promote other social development and health actions, as well as support for scientific research, aiming to contribute with solutions to the challenges imposed by the worsening of the pandemic.

“We continue to try to do our part, contributing to the fight against the pandemic and its effects through partnerships, as we believe that solidarity and cooperation are fundamental in this scenario.”, says Lorival Luz, CEO of BRF. “For more than a year, we have been facing a major challenge, without a doubt, an unprecedented and high-impact situation for all of us. For this reason, we continue to work throughout our chain, taking steps daily to ensure safety, health and the sustainability of all those involved in the operational context and in the communities where we operate. ”, adds the executive.

In 2020, the Company directed R $ 50 million in donations, which still benefit the population of 175 municipalities spread across the national territory, in addition to countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, China, Turkey, Singapore, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Oman. In Brazil alone, 1,100 social entities were awarded BRF shares, including through partners. According to the BRF Institute, in total, more than 500 thousand items were donated, including PPE such as masks, gloves and caps for health professionals, in addition to alcohol gel, Covid-19 diagnostic tests, thermometers and hospital equipment.

Of the amount donated in 2020, R $ 7.6 million was allocated to research for the development and manufacture of vaccines and for the treatment of the disease. As one of the largest food companies in the world, BRF also directed its efforts to donate more than a thousand tons of food, which is equivalent to about 4 million meals. In addition, the company invested approximately R $ 450 million in fighting the pandemic, including the adoption of new protocols and preventive measures to protect its employees and third parties.
